Type I Interferons Exert Anti-Tumor Effect via Reversing Immunosuppression Mediated by Mesenchymal Stromal Cells
Researchers found that interferon alpha (IFNα)-secreting mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) showed more dramatic inhibition effect on tumor progression than that of IFNα alone. Interestingly, IFNα-primed MSCs could also effectively suppress tumor growth. Mechanistically, they demonstrated that both IFNα and IFNβ reversed the immunosuppressive effect of MSCs on splenocyte proliferation. [Oncogene] Full Article

Researchers studied the role of B lymphoma Mo-MLV insertion region 1 homolog (BMI1) in the osteogenic differentiation of human adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hASCs). Decreased Osteogenesis in Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived from the Aged Mouse Is Associated with Enhanced NF-κB Activity

Bone Marrow-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Improve Diabetes-Induced Cognitive Impairment by Exosome Transfer into Damaged Neurons and Astrocytes
The authors showed that rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) can improve the cognitive impairments of STZ-diabetic mice by repairing damaged neurons and astrocytes. The Morris water maze test demonstrated that cognitive impairments induced by diabetes were significantly improved by intravenous injection of BM-MSCs. [Sci Rep] Full Article
