Epigenetic Library Screen Identifies Abexinostat as Novel Regulator of Adipocytic and Osteoblastic Differentiation of Human Skeletal (Mesenchymal) Stem Cells
The authors performed an epigenetic library functional screen and identified several novel compounds, including abexinostat, which promoted adipocytic and osteoblastic differentiation of human skeletal (mesenchymal or stromal) stem cells. [Stem Cells Transl Med] Abstract

Mesenchymal Stem Cells Are Sensitive to Bleomycin Treatment
Scientists demonstrated that human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are relatively sensitive to bleomycin exposure compared to adult fibroblasts. MSCs revealed increased levels of apoptosis after bleomycin treatment, while cellular morphology, stem cell surface marker expression and the ability for adhesion and migration remained unchanged. Galectin-3 Enhances Migration of Miniature Pig Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cells through Inhibition of RhoA-GTP Activity
The authors assessed whether galectin-3 (Gal-3) increases the migration of miniature pig bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs). Gal-3 was knocked down by short hairpin RNA or overexpressed using a lentiviral vector in Wuzhishan miniature pig BM-MSCs. [Sci Rep] Full Article

vIL-10-Overexpressing Human MSCs Modulate Naïve and Activated T Lymphocytes following Induction of Collagenase-Induced Osteoarthritis
Researchers sought to establish the in vivo immune response in collagenase-induced osteoarthritis and investigate the ability of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) overexpressing viral interleukin 10 (vIL-10) to modulate immune populations and delay/prevent disease progression. Transplantation of Human Adipose Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Non-Immunosuppressed GRMD Dogs Is a Safe Procedure
